Electric Vehicle DC Fast Charging Stations Installed at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Medford, MA
Sona Energy Solutions installed four 180kW dual-port DCFC EV Chargers serving 8 parking spots at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Medford, MA. BJ’s Wholesale Club looked to Sona Energy for an EV charging solution. Sona has completed lighting projects for BJ’s, reducing their lighting energy consumption by 70%. BJ’s was ready for their next green initiative project. The Medford, MA location is the second BJ’s site Sona has provided charging stations for. Sona delivered two Level 2 charging stations to one BJ’s Wholesale Club in Canton, Michigan.

Energy Goals
In discussion for the project, BJ’s valued Sona’s emphasis on customizing the
type of charging station and experience that would best support BJ’s energy
goals. When Sona works with a new customer, the priority is focusing on the
specific energy needs of the customer.
Sona is manufacturer-agnostic when it comes to station selection and was
able to provide BJ’s with a wide range of charging options and find the
solution that best fit their needs.
Sona worked with National Grid to site the chargers close to the available
power feed in order to reduce construction costs, while still keeping the
chargers highly visible and easily accessible. Sona also worked within the
specific landscaping requirements of the town of Medford, ensuring that the
stations were sited in a place that worked for the customer, the ownership,
and the municipality.
The Results
BJ’s focuses on projects that drive efficiency and reduce their energy
footprint and electric vehicle adoption supports this mission. With Sona
identifying the National Grid incentives, they also helped BJ’s offset
upfront investment costs, reducing their cost per kW. These charging
stations signal BJ’s transition into the electric vehicle space and
positions them to achieve their energy and sustainability goals.
