Electric vehicle technology is emerging rapidly, keeping pace with the speed at which the EV market continues to grow. We’re taking a look at two charging solutions recently noted by The EV Report – an EV solar home charging unit and a wireless charging solution.

Simpson & Partners, a British-owned electric vehicle home charging manufacturer, launched their first products, The Home Series. These wall boxes come in three different models from 3.6 to 22 kW and are compatible with all hybrid and electric vehicles. The chargers can be controlled through a mobile app for scheduling vehicle charges, monitoring charging levels, locking the charger and even linking to solar panels. There is a sleek design element to The Home Series chargers – the company wants the units to look “as good in 10 years as they do the day they’re installed”.

In other innovative electric vehicle news, WiTricity, Watertown, MA-based leader in wireless EV charging, and FinePowerX, South Korean-based supplier and total solution leader in smart factory technology, have entered an agreement that allows FinePowerX to develop products using WiTricity’s patented magnetic resonance technology. Their goal is to streamline the charging experience and they believe wireless charging is the way of the future. This technology is catching the eye of automakers who want to make EVs more user-friendly and prepare for a future of autonomous vehicles.

It’s exciting to see how innovative brands are in tackling challenges with EV charging and creating the technology to solve consumer pain points. There are certainly a lot of companies breaking ground in this space and it will be interesting to see what technology resonates in the immediate moment and of course, years from now.
