Colorado Electric Vehicle Charging Station Incentives

 

Colorado electric vehicle charging station incentives have made the state a leader in the Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) movement. The state of Colorado is a member of the ZEV task force whose goal is to increase the use of zero-emission vehicles across the country. The implementation of the Colorado Electric Vehicle Plan 2020 is just one of the programs created to achieve their goal. 

The Charge Ahead Colorado electric vehicle charging infrastructure grant program was created to increase the number of EV charging stations across the state. This program is responsible for over 1,000 charging stations in use today. 

This incentive program, along with the others mentioned below, were created to foster the success of the Colorado Electric Vehicle Plan 2020. Learn more about the numerous charging station incentive programs below: 

Colorado Electric Vehicle Charging Station Incentives – State

Direct Current (DC) Fast Charging Plazas Program

Under this program, the Colorado Energy Office (CEO) is planning on developing numerous DC Fast Charging banks across the state. The locations of these chargers would mainly be near downtown areas, high-density housing, commercial developments, transit hubs, and transportation network company dense areas. The purpose of this program is to increase access to high-speed charging for EV owners. Learn more about the program here

Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) and Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Grants

The Colorado Energy Office (CEO) and Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) provide grants through the Charge Ahead Colorado program to support the installation of EV charging stations by individual drivers and fleets. The grants will fund 80% of the cost of EVSE, up to $6,000 for a fleet-only Level 2 station, $9,000 for a dual-port Level 2 station, up to $35,000 for a direct current (DC) fast charging EVSE, and up to $50,000 for a charging station. Colorado Electric Vehicle Charging Station Incentives – Utilities

BYO Charger Program- Xcel Energy BYO Charger Program 

Xcel Energy offers rebates to commercial, non-profit, and multifamily properties to reduce the installation costs of EV charging stations. 100% of make-ready infrastructure costs are covered for workplace, fleet, public, and multi-family sites. Income Qualified Rebates also include up to $2,200 per port for Level 2 EVSE. For Level 3 EVSE, up to $45,000 per port is offered for fleet and workplace and up to $31,200 per port for public spaces. Small businesses can receive $2,500 per port for a maximum of three ports for coverage of EV supply infrastructure and an additional rebate of up to $2,200 per port for Level 2 EVSE. Learn more here

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate – San Isabel Electric Association (SIEA)

The SIEA offers customers rebates for the purchase and installation of Level 2 EVSE and direct current (DC) fast EVSE. They offer 50% or up to $500 for a Level 2 charging station without a network, 50% or up to $1,000 for a Level 2 charging station with a network. 50% or up to $3,000 for a Level 3 DCFC 50kW charger, and 50% or up to $5,000 for a Level 3 DCFC 100kW charger. Residential Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate – Black Hills Energy

Residential customers are offered a $500 rebate for the installation of Level 2 chargers. 

Non-Residential Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate – Black Hills Energy

Non-residential customers are offered rebates up to $2,000 per port for Level 2 chargers, while government and non-profit organizations are offered up to $3,000 per port. They also receive rebates of up to $35,000 for Level 3 DCFC chargers. Learn more here.  

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate – Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA)

Under this program, GCEA provides rebates of 70% or up to $1,250 to residential customers for the purchase and installation of Level 2 EVSE. Learn more on their website. 

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Incentive – Holy Cross Energy (HCE)

HCE offers freeL evel 2 EV chargers for its residential customers and discounted Level 2 chargers for its commercial customers. Check out their home program and their workplace program

EV Charger Rebate Program – Yampa Valley

Under this program, residential customers receive a rebate of up to $250 for Level 2 EV chargers. More here

EV Charger Rebate Program- San Miguel Power 

San Miguel power offers its residential customers 50% rebates or up to $1,000 for the installation of Level 2 chargers. They offer 50% or up to $2,000 for Level 2 public chargers. They also offer 50% rebates or up to $3,000 for 50kW-75kW for Level 3 DCFC, and 50% or up to $5,000 for 76kW-149kW Level 3 DCFC. Lastly, there are rebates of 50% or up to $7,500 for 150kW Level 3 DCFC. See more about the program here

EV Charger Rebate Program- Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association

Poudre Valley Electric offers its residential customers 50% rebates or up to $500 for the equipment and installation of Level 2 chargers and up to $1,000 for public Level 2 chargers with Wi-Fi.  They also offer 50% rebates or up to $3,000 for 50kW-75kW for Level 3 DCFC, and 50% or up to $5,000 for 76kW-149kW Level 3 DCFC. Lastly, there are rebates of 50% or up to $7,000 for 150kW Level 3 DCFC. See more about the program here

Residential customers are offered a rebate of 50% or up to $500 for the purchase and installation of Level 2 chargers. They offer 50% or up to $1,000 for the installation of public Level 2 chargers and 50% rebates or up to $3,000 for 50kW-75kW for Level 3 DCFC, and 50% or up to $5,000 for 76kW-149kW Level 3 DCFC. Lastly, there are rebates of 50% or up to $7,000 for 150kW Level 3 DCFC. See more about the program here

EV Charger Rebate Program- City of Aspen Electric

Offers rebates for Level 2 and Level 3 EV chargers of 25% or up to $500. Learn more here
