Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Needed As Gas Prices Cause Tesla Sales To Soar

The order rate of Teslas in the U.S. is surging as gas prices continue to skyrocket and electric vehicle charging stations are needed to keep up with the demand. Sanctions on Russia have caused this record high surge, with a per gallon average of $4.25 in the U.S. and spikes of up to $5 in some parts of the country.
Now, more and more drivers are turning towards electric vehicles.
“Some out of frustration, others because they are making the cost of ownership calculation and realize that it is actually cheaper than a gas-powered car.”
This week, Tesla’s order rate increased by 100%. As it stands, about 80% of all electric cars in the U.S. are Teslas. While other automakers are setting themselves up to compete as players in the EV industry, Tesla still remains far ahead of the rest.
Tesla’s Model Y, Model 3, and Model S were the vehicles at the top of the list for U.S. BEV registrations in January – and they’re still on track to meet the demand for orders. July and September 2022 will see delivery for new orders of the Model 3 and Model Y, respectively.
As gas prices surge and the amount of EV vehicles on the road increases, the bottom line is that we need a charging infrastructure that keeps up with the growing demand and this means adding electric vehicle charging stations. More and more drivers are making the switch to EV and this rate will only increase.
President Biden’s $5 billion funding plan aims to increase the availability of stations to support the influx of EVs on the road. Established by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the National Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program will help states create a network of DC fast chargers for electric vehicles. There are currently 131,000 public charging ports available in the U.S. today and the goal is to develop a network of 500,000 locations over in the next five years.
