New York EV Charging Station Incentives

New York State is a leader of electric vehicle adoption, with many incentives and rebates available for EV charging equipment and installation. The state has allocated $750 million to build charging stations and EV infrastructure to support their goal of 850,000 zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2025.
New York’s EV Make-Ready program provides infrastructure to support more than 50,000 new public and commercial Level 2 charging ports and 1,500 public DC fast charger ports.
Below, Sona has compiled a list of state and utility electric vehicle charging station incentive and rebate programs in New York State.
State Incentives
Alternative Fuels and Electric Vehicle Recharging Property Credit – New York State
The state of New York offers a nonrefundable credit for alternative fuels vehicle refueling property or electric vehicle recharging property. The credit for each installation of property is equal to the lesser of $5,000 or 50% of the cost of property. Learn more about the program here.
NYSERDA Charge Ready NY
*This program has exhausted the available funding and is no longer accepting new applications. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Charge Ready NY program offers rebates up to $4,000 per charging port for the purchase and installation of Level 2 EVSE at public parking facilities, workplaces, and multifamily apartment buildings. In disadvantaged communities, additional rebates of up to $500 per port are available. Learn more here.
New York State Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Rebate and ZEV Fueling Infrastructure Grants
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (NYSDEC) Municipal ZEV Program provides grant awards of up to $250,000 per location to cities, towns, villages, counties, and boroughs to purchase EVSE for public use. Learn more about the program here.
Utility Incentives
Central Hudson
EV Make-Ready Program
*For a limited time, Central Hudson has increased the total incentive per plug by up to $1,500 for the first 500 plugs within the six month promotional period from April 22-October 31, 2022. Central Hudson Gas & Electric Make-Ready Program offers business and municipal customers funding to cover the installation costs for approved Level 2 or DCFC EVSE. The program serves light-duty, medium-duty/heavy duty vehicles and DCFC equipment. Learn more here.
DCFC Incentive Program
Central Hudson offers commercial customers annual incentives to offset the equipment, operational, and demand charge costs of DCFC stations. The station must be publicly accessible and capable of dispensing 50 kW or more. Learn more about this program here.
Con Edison
Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Per-Plug Incentive
Con Edison offers DCFC incentives for chargers that have non-proprietary standard connectors, a minimum output of 50 kW, and are publicly accessible. Learn more about this program here.
Medium- and Heavy-Duty Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Program
ConEdison offers incentives for DCFC infrastructure for fleets that cover up to 85% of utility-side costs. Participants may receive a maximum amount of $1.2 million. Learn more here.
POWERREADY Electric Vehicle Program
This program offers incentives to offset electric infrastructure costs for Level 2 and DCFC installation for light-duty vehicles. Learn more here.
Business Incentive Rate
Con Edison offers businesses who receive economic incentives from the city, county or state reduced energy rates.The electric rate delivery reduction ranges from 34% to 39% and EV quick-charging stations must have a power output of at least 100 kW. Find out more here.
NYSEG
Make-Ready Program
NYSEG’s make-ready incentives offsets infrastructure costs for eligible sites. The incentives are up to 100% for disadvantaged communities and multi-unit dwellings with standard proprietary plugs, up to 90% for public use and standard proprietary plugs and up to 50% for some public locations, non-public chargers and for both standard proprietary and proprietary standard plugs. DCFC Incentive Program
This program provides an annual declining per-plug incentive for qualifying DCFC operators from 2019-2025. DCFC stations must be publicly accessible and each plug must be capable of dispensing 50 kW or more. Learn more here.
Make-Ready Program
RG&E’s make-ready incentives offsets infrastructure costs for eligible sites. The incentives are up to 100% for disadvantaged communities and multi-unit dwellings with standard proprietary plugs, up to 90% for public use and standard proprietary plugs and up to 50% for some public locations, non-public chargers and for both standard proprietary and proprietary standard plugs. National Grid
Make-Ready Program
This program will fund up to 100% of electric infrastructure costs for new EV stations for workplaces, retail stores, multi-unit dwellings, and public destinations. Up to 100% is offered for publicly available DCFC and Level 2 projects at multi-unit dwellings within disadvantaged communities. Up to 90% is offered for publicly available Level 2 and DCFC projects with standardized plug types. Non-public Level 2 and DCFC projects can receive up to 50%. Learn more here.
DCFC Per Plug Incentive Program
National Grid offers annual incentives for publicly accessible DCFC 50 kW or greater. Eligible plugs receive an incentive for every year they are operational between 2019 and 2025. Learn more about the program here.

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Rebate – PSEG Long Island
PSEG Long Island offers a $500 rebate to residential customers for the purchase of a Level 2 Smart Charger. Learn more here.
