The state of Rhode Island is ranked among the top 10 states for the highest number of electric vehicle charging ports per capita. As of February 2022, the state will receive $3.38 million this year to build out its EV charging infrastructure as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. As of last December, Rhode Island had 235 fully operational public charging stations, 209 public Level 2 charging stations, and 26 public DCFC stations. This investment will boost Rhode Island’s charging capacity while also creating jobs and meeting the state’s clean energy goals.
This summer, Rhode Island has plans to roll out a new version of the six-year-old program DRIVEEV to encourage EVs in the state. The program is supported with a $1.25 million funding commitment.
Below is a list of the current electric vehicle charging station incentive programs in Rhode Island.
